Redesigned over the weekend. Several motivations:
- it was loading way too slowly
- the timeline did not deserve to be as prominent as it was
- maintaining one version of the site for good browsers and one version for crappy browsers is only worthwhile if you are doing something really interesting for the newer browsers. For now, I'd like to settle for a simple to maintain, reasonably compatible site, rather than two different versions of the same site (I realize compatibility is still a problem on the new design, but I'm working on it)
- when I've added little things here and there over the last few months, it's been frustrating that I've had to treat every new item as a whole new section of the site. Then I read Stewart's post to the CHI-WEB mailing list (and the resulting argument), and realized that pixelpony.com absolutely did NOT need traditional navigation
- the writing was not very good on the old site, and was a bit dated
- I was bored and frustrated this weekend, very anxious to make a change of some sort
- I am a very attractive man, and I did not want to withhold from pixelpony.com visitors the pleasure of gazing on my face
